Thunder on the Gulf Named Top 20 Southeast Event

Beach bums and race fans have yet another reason to grab their flip-flops and head to Orange Beach. The annual powerboat races – better known as Thunder on the Gulf – just added another award to the mantel as it was named a Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 Event for the month of August 2008. This year's event is slated for August 14-17, 2008.

"We are so ecstatic that this prestigious tourism organization has selected our race as a top 20 event," said Beth Gendler, Director of Sales for the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau. "As many people know, the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission is taking over the marketing and sponsorship reins of the race while the Gulf Shores Powerboat Association along with the Offshore Super Series will handle race management. We feel this change will only enhance an already popular race." To read more of this release, click here.
